From a very young age, Kacey Musgraves learned various instruments and began songwriting. After a lot of hard work and releasing three albums herself, Kacey Musgraves caught a break and appeared on the television show, Nashville Star, as a contestant. Although she didn't win, it pushed her in the right direction.
After gaining exposure by placing seventh on the television show, Nashville Star, Kacey Musgraves became involved working on music with Martina McBride and Miranda Lambert. Eventually, Musgraves landed a recording deal with Mercury Records in 2012, and her first album on the label was released in 2013, entitled Same Trailer Different Park, with the hit single, "Merry Go 'Round." The release had Kacey Musgraves up for three ACM Awards nominations, leading her to win the Album of the Year ACM Award in 2014. Since then, Musgraves released Pageant Material in 2015 that got her nominated for a 2016 CMA award, as well.
